The green movement has been initiated as a response to the needs of finding solutions for our global warming issues. Global warming is the result of the increasing greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere. It is caused by activities like deforestation, burning of fossil fuels and greatly by inefficient use of energy. The major threats caused by global warming are climate change, melting of glaciers, inconsistent pattern of precipitation, extreme weather transitions, and extinction of some plant and animal species.
As support to the green movement, consumers like us can take part by purchasing eco-friendly products instead of energy inefficient ones. One innovative eco-friendly product is the hybrid car. A hybrid car is a car that functions using two means, by using a rechargeable power
system and a diesel engine. A hybrid car is also known to emit less smoke compared with the regular car.
Inside the house, we can install eco-friendly products like energy efficient light bulbs and LCD televisions. These products use less energy and deliver the same purpose compared to their ancestors.
We can also improve our processes such that they become more efficient and eco-friendly. We can clean our light bulbs frequently so that we don’t need to turn on many light bulbs all at the same time because one light bulb has sufficient light. During cool days, we can open our windows at home instead of turning on the air-condition unit. The air-condition unit should always be in great shape so that we will not be wasting energy whenever we use it. And lastly, turn off appliances that are not in use. Doing all of these things will not only help us in saving the earth from global warming but also in saving money that we can use for other more important expenses.
